afternoon delight

I just got home from our lunch escapade. I was able to pick up the birthday girl Leah at around 12:30 at her house then we went to shell to gas up. We had a sudden change of plans instead going Korean or to Angeles Fried Chicken we decided to go to Ala Crème. Jean was already there when we arrived. We just have to wait for She. While we were waiting for She to arrive we had a pick a pick a platter that has chili wings, fried mozzarella and fried potatoes. I ordered Ala Crème’s Homemade iced tea to satisfy my thirst. After an hour of chika, catching up and laughter (haven’t seen them for a week now) we realized She was not yet there on time apparently because she had a hard time waking up because she just got off from work. When she arrived the appetizer was almost gone. So we started to order food mine was grilled pink salmon with mash potatoes and mix vegetables, jean’s order was grilled blue marlin with mash potatoes and mix vegetables, jean and I decided to cut our orders in half so that she can have the half of my pink salmon and I can have the half of her blue marlin … YUMMY,, Leah had baby back ribs which is a good choice too and She had baked macaroni. I wont be eating my dinner anymore because till now my stomach is way full. Nevertheless I had a great afternoon with my friends. Thank you Lord.

another birthday treat

I will be meeting with my friends today for lunch. We will be celebrating Leah’s 34^th birthday. I’m not sure where but I would love to eat Korean food or the chicken at Angeles Fried Chicken. Hmm better get ready now. I want to look at my best when I go out of the house plus I’m sooooo hungry.

Time to move on or should i say forward

Can you believe it? It’s been two (2) years now since I applied at IQOR. It was August 7, 2006. by the time I was applying I was telling myself that hopefully this will be the last company that I will be with till I retire. It was a very exciting day. I met a lot of friends along the way. I have countless of them. Two (2) years is two years I was able to develop a new set of friends, develop and improve my personality more, learned further, grown mature, met one of the nicest bosses (Dave Clements, Deanna deem and Raymond Ballesteros) and started to build a bonding among colleagues. Something happen along the way and who would ever think that one day my dream job will suddenly land on my lap. I never expected it to happen but mind you it is happening. On September 1, 2008 I will start as a training manager for PATRICK insurance. It is an insurance company base in the USA and guess what I will have regular working hours and weekend offs. It’s only the beginning of the perks that I will get from my new company just to name a few. For IQOR I will miss my friends, my kids, my bosses and all of the good things and memories that I had. Here is my picture perfect id one of the things that I will miss for sure.

a love lost

How do you cope up on losing someone? Breaking up with someone is too much pain but what if death comes in between? No hurting can ever describe when losing a love one by death. I must admit Ima (my dad’s mother) died last March 1998 and looking back that’s already 10 years ago and yet I’m missing her so much. Her memories always linger. I thank god for having her in my life. Growing up with her was so memorable not only the boxes filled of goodies from Japan every now and then that she sends us but the love and care she gave to me and my brother was the best. Sleeping with her every night, her hugs and kisses. Waking up hearing her pray, and then she will tell me to wake up and eat breakfast or go walking with her. One fond funny memory that I have of her was when she was curling my hair which I love but my mom and her would argue because my mom would love to have my straight. She left us a lot of recollections which I can tell my future kids about it. My tatang (my dad’s father) I had the chance to know him just for a few years because he died early but my mom always tell me that he was the one who makes me fall into sleep when I was still a baby and he was the one who threw me my first birthday party. Growing up with my grandparents is a gift from god because the love they give is twice as much that parents give but I’m not saying that my parents love me much less. Hehehe. Thank you Ima and Tatang for the love you gave me. I wouldn’t be me if it wasn’t for your love and care. This year was the happiest and saddest as well a lot of love ones died, Apung (mf best friend’s grandmother), My friend TJ who died in his sleep last July, My Bapa Lito and My Uncle Nanding just this August 14, 2008. He is also a very nice person very cheerful, living life to the fullest. Thank you God for giving me the opportunity to serve him during his stay at the funeral home for 3 days. It was tiring but it’s ok because it was the last that I will see him. There’s nothing we can do about death some say it is a celebration of life the person had once. For the people left it’s another episode to get over with and move on. Its not the end of the world when some one dies but really it is very hard to forget the love and happy memories we shared with them. Let’s just make sure that we love and cherish each other so that by the time “our time comes” we won’t have any regrets or any ill feelings with our love ones.

I had a count down of my big day for approximately 30 days and when my birthday came it passed me by like a cyclone.

It started one fine morning, waking up in a very good and light mood. My mom and dad went to the market and bought loads and loads of food. Menu for my birthday: bbq squid, sisig, tokwat baboy, inihaw Na sulib, tilapia, bangus, crispy pata, tacos Filipino version, beef with broccoli, and pansit palabok courtesy of uncle gene and auntie rocel. We feasted all these sumptuous food over lunch. Everybody was all stuffed! It was all a pleasure to see all eating in delight.

Right after lunch we headed back home to get ready for a 5:30 mass. It was a very meaningful mass considering it was my special day.

We went back home to wait for my brother. He came in from manila. When he was all made up, we went to herbs and greens for a quiet dinner. Sadly it was only the four of us. No plus one. I still thank god for all the blessings he has given me for the past 30 years.

Soon after we had our family dinner, atching ahlee had it all plan for our bar hopping for the girls. Our first stop was at Bruno and Diego, then to a place atching ahlee love and lastly @ RNB.

I had such a blast with my cousins. This will be forever cherished because I only see them once like the blue moon.

JULY 16

Such a memorable day this was. Given fact, 2 days to go before my big day. Having not enough sleep because we went home late, my uncle gene and family (my mom’s brother) came home from Guam to surprise everybody. When I was all ready to sleep my good friend icor text me and told that his brother TJ died, Tj is and was also a friend. God can you just believe that only 30 years old? Gone too soon!! I remember during my college days. My gimmick days I use to hang out with him so jolly and funny person. So I wake up the next day feeling kind of sad it was already July 16 and I remember that I need to renew my license. I decided to go to work then go to SM for my license and last stop is at good shepherd to see Tj for the last time. Sounded so easy right? I thought so too, before I left the office I already drank a lot of water not because I know that my urine will be tested for drugs but because it is my habit to drink a lot of water everyday. It was all good till I had my test, I heard the nurse call my name. For some strange reasons my heart started to pound. That stupid technician (or however you call her) started to shout, my knees were shaking, all of the people started to stare at me and laughing at me because she was accusing me of manipulating my urine, in a very loud voice she said that I got my urine from the faucet and my urine was cold. In humiliation I was not able to defend my self that well, at the same time I did not want to create a scene and I was very worried that they will forfeit my license. We all know that driving is my passion and if I won’t be able to drive again, it’s like a death sentence to me. I told her what can I do if drink a lot of water and that my urine is crystal clear. I started to call my mom and dad, friends and cousins to save me from such SHAME! The other nurse believes in me. Thank god. She told me to go back after 1pm. I went home to pick my mom and dad... you know moral support from all of the embarrassment that shity nurse inflicted. I even forgot to eat lunch, I was so famished. I thought I was not able to go at good shepherd. Well I thought my day will end in misery but it ended with a blast because at the end of the day it was a get together sort of party at a private villa with a private swimming pool and Jacuzzi that goes with it, loving family and yummy food.

The bobonikels chronicles

If there is book called The Narnia Chronicles, I would like to certainly write about the bobonikels chronicles. I’m sure your wondering what is the meaning of bobonikels. Bobo is a tagalong word which translates in English dumb (from Encarta dictionary it means regarded as having or showing a low level of intelligence). Kels well, I just want to add it to the word to have a new twist. Hahaha. Well being an SME (subject matter expert) at work is very challenging my job description goes a long list of slashes, like we don’t really know if we are an AVP/ trainer/ QA/CSAT. Most of the time all eyes are on us be it VP/ AVP’S/ AGENTS. So the pressure is really on us. The bobonikels chronicles are stories of agents who have some situations that will make you laugh and cry. I for one, these agents make me feel irritated. You will have mix feelings of pity and anger. It would make you think how come they have the nerve to apply in a call center. I’m not saying that i'm all good, sometimes when i’m talking to a customer if I’m not concentrating I must admit that I’m lost for words but not as stupid. Here are scenarios that I find so funny that I want to practice my gymnastics skills and I want to literally hang myself upside down.

SCENE 1

Agent 1: Mommy A can I ask you a question?

Mommy A: yeah sure, what?

Agent 1: uhhh when do I need to ask the customer “how are you?” is it after I verify the Pin or after?

TOINKKKSSSS, hello isn’t this just a common sense on when to ask someone like how are you? Or how was your day? Hello spontaneity??

before i go to lunch here is a detailed recipe of BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS from www.cooks.com

10-12 chicken wings (2 1/2 lbs.)
1/4 to 3/4 cup hot pepper sauce
1/4 cup butter
Vegetable or peanut oil (for frying)
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 shallot, minced (optional)
1 onion, finely minced (optional)
pinch of sea salt

Fill a heavy bottomed, deep-sided frying pan with at least 1 inch of oil and heat until temperature reaches 400°F.

Split the wings at each joint and discard tips. Rinse and pat dry with paper towels.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat with minced garlic. (Finely minced shallots or onions may optionally be added at the same time as the garlic.) If you prefer a smoother sauce, a stick blender may be used to smooth it out and blend in the flavors of the garlic, etc. When the garlic is a golden color, stir in the hot sauce. Add a pinch of salt.

When the oil is the correct temperature carefully lower the wings into the hot oil using a slotted spoon or wire basket, and deep fry for about 12 minutes, or until wings are cooked and crispy.

Drain on paper towels. Toss with the hot sauce, coating several times to cover well.

Serving Suggestion: Serve with a side of extra hot sauce for dipping, and a bowl of Blue Cheese Dressing or Ranch dip and celery sticks.

Halo-halo (from Tagalog halo, "mix mix") is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served cold in a tall glass or bowl.
There is no specific recipe for this dessert, and a wide variety of ingredients are used. The order in which the ingredients are added varies widely. Primary ingredients generally include boiled red mung beans, kidney beans, garbanzos, sugar palm fruit (kaong), coconut sport (macapuno), and plantains caramelized in sugar. Other components may include jackfruit (langka), star apple, tapioca or sago, nata de coco, purple yam (ube) or sweet potato (kamote), sweetened corn kernels or pounded crushed young rice (pinipig), leche flan or custard, ice cream and gelatin. Other fruits, such as papayas, avocados, kiwifruit, bananas or cherries, may also be added. Some preparations also include ice cream on top of the halo-halo.
Generally, condensed milk or evaporated milk is used instead of fresh milk, due to the tropical climate of the Philippines.

SISIG FOREVER

if someone will ask me about my favorite native dish that would be sisig. (Sisig is a Kapampangan term which means "to snack on something sour". It usually refers to fruits, often unripe or half-ripe, sometimes dipped in salt and vinegar. It also refers to a method of preparing fish and meat, especially pork, which is marinated in a sour liquid such as lemon juice or vinegar, then seasoned with salt, pepper and other spices.[1]
Sisig as is popularly known today is actually sizzling sisig, a Philippine dish made from parts of pig’s head, liver and usually seasoned with kalamansi and chili peppers.)

i can eat this dish like two to three times a week without getting fed up with it. it truly shows that im a kapampangan by nature. looks tasty huh!? here is the recipe

Pork Sisig

* 1 ? kilo Pork head* ? cup grilled liver (diced)* 2 small onions (minced)* 2 pieces red pepper (minced)* 1 head garlic (minced)* 6 pieces hot chili pepper (minced)* 2 tablespoons oil* 1 cup vinegar* 1 ? tablespoons liquid seasoning* 1 teaspoon black pepper* 1 teaspoon brown sugar* 1 cup beef stock
1. Grill pork head for to remove hair.2. Boil pork head until tender.3. Take out all the meat and dice.4. In a saut? pan, heat oil and saut? garlic, onion,red pepper, pork meat and liver.5. Season with liquid seasoning, black pepper, and brown sugar.6. Pour in beef stock and cook until meat is tender and starts to oil again.7. Add minced chili pepper last.8.
